What are the symptoms of type 2 diabetes and what can we do to control this disease?

Type 2 diabetes is sometimes called a silent disease, because as its symptoms are not recognized by patients, it can go years without being correctly diagnosed (1).

In continuation of Diabetes Month Awareness in November, doctor Adedamola Soyibo (Nephrologist from Jamaica) tells us what the most common symptoms of type 2 diabetes are (such as frequent urination, being very thirsty, or being very hungry)(2), and also offers excellent tips to manage this disease (eating well and exercising).(3)  A special emphasis must be made on maintaining adherence to the treatment prescribed by the doctor, as this action helps to control the disease and maintain the health and well-being of the patient in the long run(3).

Dr. Soyibo and Servier Central America and the Caribbean encourage you to #ACTNOWFORDIABETES and go see your doctor if you suspect you or someone you know may have diabetes or that it may not be controlled.
